The Proposal
Alex and I always love visiting down south and visiting the wineries in the area so it wasn’t a surprise when he suggested a weekend getaway for us and some friends. We drove down like always and at a stop at a restaurant for lunch I was exclaiming how Alex would never be able to surprise me with an engagement ring and proposal because I didn’t think he could keep a secret. Little did I know that he had the ring in his pocket then! We stopped at one of our favourite wineries (Juniper) and were enjoying a tasting and alex kept trying to get me to go outside but I was enjoying tasting all the wines they had. Alex ended up pretending he broke the bathroom tap to pull the cellar door staff aside and get them in on the plan too! We eventually went outside to admire the garden when Alex got down on one knee finally! And it was very full circle as we got married in the same spot almost 3 years to the day!
Our style, and why we chose our venue
I used the beautiful Flower garden and my husbands British background as inspiration and went for a classic style with a pastel floral English cottage garden look. The backdrops we had made this so easy to achieve and I felt we had to add very little to achieve this. I loved how it all turned out especially the florals and our invitations
We chose Juniper Estate for our ceremony as that was the spot we got engaged and we absolutely We had built a lovely relationship with Tom, Rob and Rhi there and they were so accommodating about having our ceremony there and were just so amazing with the whole process. The flower garden made the best aisle walk and the spot in front of the stream was the absolute best backdrop for our vows.
Highlights
There are so many Highlights I’m not going to be able to narrow it down! The ceremony of course is one, our celebrant Kristy was so organised and incredible she did a beautiful job. Emma and David were just the best photography videography team we had stunning backdrops all day and they made us feel so at ease in front of the camera.
I also love the long table degustation we did for dinner, not only was the food from Tiller Dining phenomenal, having only 16 guests made it so much more intimate and we go to talk to every single person. The impromptu dance party at the end made for some great Polaroids!
