Emily + Mac

Emily and Mac

Married on 11 March 2023

The Proposal

I came home from work and when I walked through the door, Mac was waiting for me with a beautiful emerald ring and had decorated the entrance with flowers and candles. It was very romantic and having the proposal at home made ensured it was a surprise and that much more intimate. It was beautiful!

Why we chose our venue

Old Broadwater Farm is a beautiful property, we fell in love with the idea of having our ceremony in the pavilion and the reception in the courtyard under the stars. We also loved that having it there would keep everything in one place so our guests didn’t have to travel between venues, and the staff were all so helpful during the planning process – we definitely made the right choice!

Our Style

We really wanted the day to be true to us and feel like a magical garden party. We chose happy colours like greens, yellows, oranges, and soft pinks and incorporated hints of gold and chocolate brown to reflect the change in season from summer to autumn. We had lots of candles in colours that complemented the flowers and together this brought the magic and romance we had hoped for.

Best Moments

The whole day was so beautiful but if we had to name a few, we would say the first time we saw each other at the ceremony was really special, having our dogs bring us our rings during the ceremony was perfect, seeing all of our loved ones so happy and enjoying the day filled our hearts, and having our own table for just the two of us during our reception enabled us to have some precious one-on-one time during the festivities.

Advice for Future Couples

Find vendors you connect with as you’ll be working with them a lot in the lead up to the wedding, and for us having a great relationship with them all made the experience of planning the wedding ourselves really enjoyable. It was a bit sad to say goodbye once it was all over!
