The Proposal
After seven wonderful years together, Cory proposed at his graduation—a moment I’ll never forget. He had secretly arranged for our closest family and friends to be there, turning an already special day into something truly unforgettable.
Why we chose our venue
Even before we got engaged, we always knew we wanted to get married down south. As we searched through stunning venues, we were determined to find the perfect spot for us. Some places felt too large, too formal, or too much like a copy-and-paste wedding—and that just wasn’t our style. Then, during a casual wine tasting, we stumbled across Windance Estate. After chatting with the warm, welcoming staff and taking in the beauty of the estate, we both walked away saying, ‘I get a good feeling from this place.’ Two weeks later, we came back down south and locked it in. Windance made the whole experience so easy and joyful—it felt meant to be.
Our style
We just wanted one big celebration where all our family and friends could come together to enjoy great food, amazing wine, and dance the night away to live music. I’m so happy we were able to bring that vision to life. We opted for a cocktail-style reception, and it turned out to be absolutely perfect for us.
Fragrance
I chose Chanel Coco Mademoiselle—a timeless fragrance that, to me, embodies elegance and sophistication. It’s classic, yet modern, and felt like the perfect scent for such a special day.
Best Moments
Obviously, marrying my husband was the absolute highlight of the day—but honestly, the whole day felt perfect from start to finish. The post-wedding blues are real! One of my favourite moments was later in the evening when Cory pulled me aside so we could pause, take it all in, and watch our loved ones laughing, dancing, and having the time of their lives. That memory will stay with me forever. And having a live band really created the most amazing atmosphere for guests of all ages—I’m pretty sure my signature tambourine made its way around the dance floor all night!
Advice for Future Couples
Don’t skimp on the food—trust me, you don’t want your guests to remember your wedding because they were hungry! We were lucky enough to have Tiller Dining as our caterers, and they were absolutely outstanding. We went with a mix of canapés, a grazing table, banquet-style mains (which still worked beautifully for a cocktail-style wedding), and a late-night snack. Don’t forget the late-night snack—we did toasties, and they were a huge hit!
Get an on-the-day coordinator. They’re worth every cent and having someone to take care of the logistics allowed us to truly enjoy every moment without stress.
Stop trying to please everyone—this day is about you two. Enjoy the whole experience and soak it all in. Choose vendors you genuinely love and trust—they’re the ones who will help bring your vision to life and make the day magical.
Oh, and bring your dogs! They’re part of the family too.
