About Us:

Marita Joy Fine Jewellery began in 2011, after completing my apprenticeship and wanting to start a family with flexible working hours. I moved to South West WA from the big smoke in 2006 and certainly feel my adopted home is such a wonderful place to raise a child and enjoy some of the most spectacular beaches and wineries in the world.

I became a jeweler after a few career changes and traveling the world, searching for something that would be fulfilling and enable me to earn a living. Having never had the opportunity to dig deep into my creativity, doing a night course at TAFE in silversmithing piqued my interest and showed me I had a talent for design and fabrication. I had found my calling, and now every day I get to do what I love.

Over the years, I have extended my skills in stone setting, design, and the complexity of the pieces I am able to create for you. Doing this while being an at-home parent has definitely had its challenges, but with the family’s support and a clear vision about the jeweler I aspire to be, I’ve guided my business through the challenges and now look at many opportunities before me to keep growing my business and myself.

I’ve been the recipient of several awards in my career – during my apprenticeship, I was runner-up in AGR Matthey’s Next Generation design competition, with ‘Cocoon’ in the Belle of the Ball category (featured in the photo below), an innovation award from the Design Institute of Australia, and in 2023, the Micro Business Sole Trader Award in the Busselton Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.

I bring to my clients a very personalized service – our consultations are over a cup of coffee or tea, where we chat about design and the significance of the new creation. For those unable to connect in person, the wonders of emailing, social media, and video calls mean we can connect and create from anywhere in the world.

I’ve always had the recycling bug, and what better way to feel I’m making a positive environmental impact on this earth by specializing in upcycling of clients’ precious pieces. The benefits of this for my clients are they are receiving back their gold, platinum, or silver (and often reusing their diamonds and gems) in a new form – which is often sentimentally important – saving money by reusing what they have and also lessening the mining, production, and transportation footprint compared to buying new gold. It also retains and enhances the value of the metal that the client has.

From sourcing ethically produced stunning precious gems and diamonds to creating the perfect engagement or celebration ring, you are my focus in the design process and finished creation.

Contact me to arrange a personal consultation or with any queries you may have.

Yours in design and creating,

Marita
